PROGRAM AND TARGETED ACTION ON THE DIET AND HEALTH OF THE GREEK POPULATION: DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF METHODOLOGY AND DOCUMENTATION

HYDRIA
HYDRIA

HYDRIA is the Greek national diet and health survey. HHF is the Coordinator of the HYDRIA study. HYDRIA adopts international standards and develops tools and methodology to document the health and nutritional status of the population in Greece and provide data to facilitate the improvement of public health policies.

Data from a representative population sample of Greece consisting of at least 4000 adult inhabitants is recorded. Questionnaires collect data on various socio-economic variables and health indicators, as well as dietary, anthropometric and biochemical variables.

Data collected enriches the Hellenic Health Map, for use by the general public, health professionals and the health authorities, providing representative updated data on the health of Greek residents, such as data on diet, physical activity, obesity, hypertension and smoking. Information available assists the Ministry of Health and other health authorities to implement targeted and effective policies for the improvement of public health.
