INTERACT

Investigating how our genes and lifestyle interact to lead to diabetes

INTERACT

HHF Participation:

The Hellenic Health Foundation (HHF) contributes to the work package W.P 2.6 (November 2006 until May 2008) which refers to the Research Line 2 (RL2) of the Integrated Project InterAct.

European Commission DG Research Framework Programme 6 (FP6).

Project Aim:

The overall aim of the multi-faceted InterAct project is to discover how genetic and lifestyle behavioural factors, particularly diet and physical activity, interact in their influence on the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and to investigate how these discoveries may help to prevent the development of diabetes.

HHF is involved with the validation of a short physical activity questionnaires, designed by the large multi-centre cohort - the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC), and to provide more value by testing the validity of one questionnaire commonly used for population surveillance (IPAQ) and a newly derived questionnaire suitable for use in the future follow-up studies of the EPIC cohort (RPAQ).
