EFSA SUPPORT

Support to national dietary surveys in compliance with the EFSA Guidance on General principles for the collection of national food consumption data in the view of a pan-European dietary survey covering adults from 10 up to 74 years old.

EFSA SUPPORT

A long-term objective of the EFSA - European Food Safety Authority is the organization of a fully harmonized pan-European Food Consumption Survey, which is called "What's on the Menu in Europe?" (EU Menu). In October 2009, the EFSA Expert Group on Food Consumption Data endorsed the Guidance on general principles for the collection of dietary information that can be used to calculate dietary exposure considered by EFSA's Scientific Panels as well as estimating intake of energy and nutrients.

The purpose of the assignment is to adapt the methodology used in the Greek national diet and health survey - HYDRIA coordinated by the Hellenic Health Foundation, in accordance with the EFSA Guidance document. The adopted methods are used for the collection of dietary and related data in a sample of 780 individuals aged 10-74 years old. The data collected through this project is prepared according to the format required by EFSA and subsequently transferred to EFSA.

The project is coordinated and administered by the Hellenic Health Foundation.
